About the event

About the Program

Choral music often has a reputation for being heavy and even stuffy, but it can also celebrate life in a lighter and more accessible way.  Musical theater does just that. Music is powerful because of its fluidity--its ability to comfort, to challenge, to inspire, and to surround us in a sense of wellbeing.  In this concert, we seek to explore the various experiences of life through accessible and often familiar songs which engage and entertain while also bringing a sense of the variety of human experience.

Our repertoire for this concert is familiar music but also music that reflects powerful themes and messages. We see the power of finding beauty in the face of hardship through "Seasons of Love" from Rent, the importance of seeking the good in life and manifesting a positive future through "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" and "Singing in the Rain."  We see the importance of the fight for survival and justice in "Make Them Hear You" from Ragtime, Rent's "Seasons of Love," and "Do You Hear the People Sing?" from Les Misérables.  The sense of place and home is conveyed by "Oh What a Beautiful Morning."  We see hope for the future in "Found/Tonight" from Dear Evan Hansen and Hamilton, "More I Cannot Wish You" from Guys & Dolls.  "Pilgrim's Hymn" from Three Hermits inspires with the power of trust and hope.
